At Hartnell Taylor Cook, we marked International Women’s Day in a number of different ways, from an all-woman client day out clay-pigeon shooting, to joining Women In Property’s ‘sweatworking session’ as well as hosting our own elevenses in office on Friday.

You can read all about about our all-woman clay-pigeon shooting day here.
As part of our week of events, we took the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of two of our newest hires, Georgina Batt and Sara Rahimi, and asked them about life so far at HTC. You can read their interviews here and here.
On Wednesday, two members of our team, Beth Warren and Jess Smith, joined Women In Property’s ‘sweatworking’ event, held at Empire Fighting Chance boxing gym – a community-focused development charity that was born on Bristol’s streets in 2006 to fight the impact of inequality on young people’s lives. After an intense session of punchbag hitting and light sparring, we had a chance to learn more about the truly inspirational work that Empire does.
The sweatworking session moved on to Extract Coffee Roasters – whose mission is to make coffee better: better for local communities, better for growers, better for the planet and better for people. Over coffee and pastries, we learnt more about the limited edition ‘Betty’ ground coffee, released for International Women’s Day, which celebrates women’s experiences in coffee farming and champions empowerment and inclusivity.
We bought a bag of ‘Betty’ ground coffee to enjoy at our Friday ‘everyone welcome’ elevenses. Designed as a planned break in the day to gather over coffee and wonderful cakes by Kate’s Kitchen, a locally owned and run independent business, it proved a welcome moment in a busy day to chat about issues faced by women in the built environment.
