The Rating department were asked to advise on taking the property out of Rates during the refurbishment process. The property comprises a 20,000 sq ft two storey office building which was previously let to a charity with a Rateable Value of £487,500 since 1st April 2017. An application was made through the CCA process to get the property taken out of the Rating List, which was successful after extensive negotiations with the Valuation Office Agency and submission of detailed building costs and timeline charts. The VOA agreed to take the property out of Rating with effect from January 2021. It has resulted in a significant saving to the client.
