Rating: Director / Associate Director – London



Due to expansion of the business an exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced surveyor to join the department. Over the last year HTC has been advising Local Authority clients and have recently been appointed on the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) Framework to advise on business rates 

In addition, over the past year HTC have been advising on the Business rates strategy for two large Reat Estate companies with assets over the UK

The team’s focus is on delivering strategic advice and appeal management to minimise rate liability and identify operational efficiencies. Clients include national brands, blue-chip occupiers, and public sector bodies.

The role is to advise on predominantly commercial property in the south and southwest of England and the successful candidate is expected to be a good communicator and self-motivated. Experience in advising on Business Rates for Local Authority assets would be an advantage but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Manage day-to-day delivery of client instructions and casework.
  • Prepare and submit detailed Check, Challenge and Appeal cases.
  • Lead site inspections, measurements, and valuation assessments.
  • Represent clients in negotiations with the Valuation Office Agency and billing authorities.
  • Support business development activity and client relationship management.
  • Mentor and assist Surveyors and Graduates in professional development.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, presentations and sector initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, financial, and professional standards.

Skills and Experience:-

  • MRICS qualified with post-qualification experience in business rates advice
  • Demonstrable experience managing client portfolios or significant cases.
  • Strong analytical and valuation skills with commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator.
  • Ability to mentor and support more junior team members.
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation and reporting capability.
  • Familiarity with rating systems.
  • Strong client following
  • Full UK driving licence
