On a drizzly Wednesday evening, Jess Smith and Beth Warren headed over to Empire Fighting Chance in Easton to take part in their ‘Growing Our Sisterhood’ sweatworking and discussion panel event.
Designed to bring together young women from Empire Fighting Chance’s programmes with women working across business and industry, the event created a relaxed space to share experiences, answer questions and offer advice on careers, confidence and navigating life as a young woman.
The evening began with a 30-minute boxing session followed by a rugby session delivered by the Bristol Bears Foundation; ending with a short stretching class.
Sufficiently energised, our team then entered into the networking session with aplomb. This consisted of a rotational panel consisting of EFC staff, Bristol Bears staff and players, corporate supporters and other women invited to attend the event who answered a questions based on a variety of topics submitted by young women on the programme.
Who are Empire Fighting Chance?
Empire Fighting Chance is a Bristol-based charity that works with disadvantaged youth, often using boxing and sports coaching as a means to build confidence and learn skills for a better future.
Inspiring the Surveyors of Tomorrow
At Hartnell Taylor Cook, we’re committed to opening up the property industry to people who may never have considered surveying as a career. Partnering with Empire Fighting Chance helps us reach a new generation of talent and show them that there is a place for them in our sector.
With more than 100 years of operations behind us, Hartnell Taylor Cook always has one eye firmly on the future. Encouraging young people to develop their skills, confidence and aspirations is central to that vision, especially those who may come from backgrounds where careers in property aren’t typically considered.
By supporting events like Growing Our Sisterhood, we hope to inspire young women to explore new opportunities, broaden their ambitions and perhaps even see themselves as the surveyors of tomorrow.
