The Property and Asset Management team at Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP focus on client requirements in order to maximise the value of the management process and we never lose sight of the client’s overall strategy for the property nor the role of the building within their business.
Hartnell Taylor Cook LLP has a position available immediately in our Bristol Office for an experienced Senior Client Accountant. The role will encompass all aspects of Client Accounting and applicants will need to demonstrate a very good working knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, nominal ledger, credit control, VAT, bank reconciliations, general reconciliation, RICS regulations and service charge accounting.
Key responsibilities:-
- Ensuring that all client and property accounting services are delivered to a consistently high standard and to the service levels required by the client
- Reconciliation of rent ledgers and payment of funds to clients
- Preparation and audit of VAT reports and client statements
- Service charge accounts and property balance sheets
- Preparation of account information for audit
- Ensuring that charges are raised in accordance with the lease and RICS guidelines
- Liaising with new clients during handover
- Monitoring arrears and liaising with surveyors to ensure timely collection of all amounts
- Liaise with surveyors to monitor service charge budgets and maintain cash flow
- Variance reporting
- Deal with surveyor, tenant and client queries
- Reconciliations to date of sale or end of management agreement
- Manage void funding
- Update on account charges
- Manage electricity accounts and recharges to tenants
- Produce interest reports and charges
- Bank transfers and bank liaison
- Review bank reconciliations
- Monitoring purchase ledger and sales ledger information to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of client accounting records, including client statements and/or profit and loss and balance sheet reporting, VAT and other tax reporting, charges to tenants and clients, rent deposits, and bank, cash, and service charge reconciliations, maintaining and collating supporting information as required
- Ensure that services are delivered in accordance with the agreed contract
- Attend client meetings as required and work with clients to understand their needs, interpret requirements and respond as appropriate
- Provide advice and guidance to team members
- Compile, check and deliver regular reports in accordance with agreed timescales
- Assist in internal and external audits of financial information, procedures and controls
Skills and Experience:-
- Previously worked in a Client Accountant role preferably within a commercial property environment
- Good working knowledge of Tramps
- Will have a good understanding of the principles of financial and management accounting
- Strong Excel skills
- Have the ability to analyse financial information and disseminate to non‑finance people
- Knowledge of RICS, VAT and NRL guidelines and procedures is highly advantageous
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Numerate, accurate and with impeccable attention to detail
- Able to work as a part of a team
- Ability to work well in a fast paced environment and able to meet strict deadlines
